It's finally over. Sniff. But what a Saturday it was! Even with Erykah Badu and Indonesia's Andra and The Backbone absent from the confirmed lineup, the Sunburst KL International Music Festival 2009 turned thousands of music fans (we predict more than 10,000 surely) into 12-hour party people on the wide open plain of Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club.
What was impressive was that people actually came early to catch the local acts. Bands like Estrella, Cosmic Kitchen and Gerhana Ska Cinta attracted a huge audience, the latter even amassing a human train of "skankers". Road To Sunburst winners Nao also impressed with their instrumental rock. Although most festival goers were probably new to the sounds of Russian Winters from Australia, the crowd was really receptive to the band's performance. The Silent Disco Arena was also quite popular –even Jonathan Davis of Korn dropped by to check out the sounds.
The sun was scorching like a mofo, but it didn't deter the audience from lingering in front of the Sun and Sky Stages to catch all the bands. But the real action happened after dark; Agrikulture and Nidji from Indonesia blasted their way through superb sets that included sing-alongs, and...what can we say about NERD and Korn's performances except that they were a total mind f*ck!!Below are some pics from the fest. We're waiting on the second batch of official pics from Sunburst, so bear with these amateur ones 'til we get more in the next coupla days!
